Talking with Babies: Infant Directed Speech and the Role of Early Educators, by Dr. Kathy Hirsh-Pasek

Baby talk can sound silly, but there’s an important place for all types of vocal exchanges with infants and toddlers in early childhood settings. In fact, the  verbal interactions caregivers and educators have with infants and toddlers are critical factors in cognitive and language development, along with social-emotional development and relationship-building. Studies suggest that infant-directed speech:
  • promotes infant attention to language
  • fosters social interaction between infants and caregivers
  • informs infants about various aspects of their native language by helping babies distinguish between speech addressed to adults and that addressed to them
So, just how should caregivers and teachers best interact with babies? Join this webinar presented by language and literacy expert, Dr. Kathy Hirsh-Pasek to learn techniques and strategies to facilitate language development through responsive interactions with babies.
